Job Overview

We are seeking a Dietitian to join our team at San Joaquin Valley Rehabilitation Hospital, located in Fresno, CA, a 62‑bed acute rehab hospital providing rehabilitative services to patients recovering from disabilities caused by injuries or illnesses.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the quality of nutritional care provided to both hospitalized and ambulatory patients.
• Perform nutritional assessments/evaluations and make dietary recommendations.
• Provide patient counseling and education.
• Develop nutritional care plans, monitor and implement changes as appropriate.
• Implement nutrition therapy orders and verify implementation of orders.
• Monitor and evaluate patient’s adherence, acceptance, and tolerance for prescribed nutrition therapy.
• Re‑evaluate and update nutrition care on a regular basis.
• Accountable for the planning and directing of the nutrition office.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Current, valid, active license and/or certification to practice as a Registered Dietitian in the state of employment.
• Registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
• Minimum two (2) years of clinical experience in a hospital setting.

Additional Qualifications / Skills

• Current BLS certification from a Vibra‑approved vendor (preferred).
• Knowledge of modern principles and practices of dietetics (preferred).
• Knowledge of safety and sanitation standards applicable to hospital food service (preferred).
• Ability to project a professional image.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
• Strong organizational, prioritizing, and analytical skills.
• Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
• Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions.
• Freedom from illegal use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
