Regional Business Director
Our client is a biopharmaceutical company developing and delivering novel therapies for the management of central nervous system (CNS) disorders. The client team is a lean, dynamic group committed to addressing unmet needs for patients with CNS disorders. The company is based in New York City.
Our client is currently searching for a Regional Business Director (RBD) to lead commercial activities for an assigned geography, establish a team of Account Managers, execute marketing strategies, and ensure a successful launch. The RBD will supervise an industry‑shaping, uniquely structured salesforce leveraging a highly sophisticated digital infrastructure. All sales representatives will be aligned to geographical boundaries.
The RBD is responsible for sales performance at a Region level and is expected to be a product champion and exhibit business knowledge of the local landscape to assess key stakeholders and future trends within the marketplace. This is a cross‑functional frontline leader role focused on our growth brand for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder in adults, Auvelity. The position is field‑based and will require travel as needed to develop internal and external relationships.
Job Responsibilities and Duties- Supervise operations of the Region: drive results, hire & coach, account managers development, performance management, and assign key "priority" accounts within the medical community.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the Region, balancing live/virtual interactions and prioritizing team efforts.
- Plan, organize and drive performance to achieve the region’s business potential through coaching and influence of direct reports.
- Establish and maintain effective communication among all Region members and cross‑channel stakeholders in the Accounts and Market Access team.
- Maintain required technical expertise to respond to all product, marketing, policy, and business questions from customers and account managers.
- Work with direct reports to understand and consistently execute established expectations.
- Coach and counsel teammates to improve selling skills, product knowledge and capabilities for success through live and virtual engagements.
- Plan and conduct actions and meetings with Region and Market Access teams.
- Develop and implement Regional business plan, manage Regional budget, and overall responsibility for P&L at Region level in alignment with Regional and National expectations.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, policies, and processes.
- Travel overnight as needed.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
- BA or BS required; advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of field leadership experience, payer account management or demonstrated sales success with increasing responsibility and organizational leadership.
- Preferred previous pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical marketing/sales experience with at least 3-5 years in a 1st line leadership role.
- Proven performance history in coaching others to success.
- Demonstrated experience delivering outstanding results and developing talent.
- Track record in attracting and retaining top talent.
- Current or recent psychiatry disease experience strongly preferred.
- Successful launch experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to strategize within teams using differential resources to reach business goals.
- Proven multitasking ability under aggressive timelines in a dynamic environment.
- Must reside within the territory’s geography.
- Comfortable with uncertainty and high expectations.
- Patient support services experience a plus.
- Strong digital marketing aptitude.
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
The anticipated salary range for this role is $175,000 – $205,000. The offer will be based on experience, qualifications, internal equity and location. Our client offers a competitive package that includes an annual bonus, significant equity, and generous benefits.
