Our client, a lobbying and educational organization which focuses on environmental issues, is looking for an Admin & HR Director to join their dynamic, fun, and high-performing team. Reporting to the Executive Director, this person will work closely with the senior leadership team to develop and deliver operational and cultural initiatives in line with the organization’s mission. This person will work closely with staff and board members on day to day operational issues, and drive internal operations to make sure that all team members have all they need and are set up for success.
The Admin & HR Director will oversee a team of six direct reports.
This organization operates on a 4-day work week, Monday-Thursday. They are hybrid (2 days in-office) and can be based out of either Oakland, Sacramento, San Bernardino, Fresno, or Los Angeles.
Responsibilities:
- Lead HR, administration, internal operations (IT & facilities), and organizational development.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews, and staff development to build a strong and diverse team.
- Serve as the key HR representative, ensuring compliance, culture building, and policy development.
- Manage staff and board planning, retreats, and governance committee operations.
- Foster an inclusive, transparent, and equity-focused workplace culture.
- Collaborate with leadership to implement justice and equity initiatives.
- Ensure operational efficiency by refining policies, internal controls, and processes.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of director-level experience in HR, administration, and operations.
- Expertise in nonprofit HR, staff supervision, board governance, and strategic initiatives.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience working with boards of directors and leading organizational improvements.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and the organization’s mission.
