About Us Venu Works of Fresno, LLC., an employee‑owned private management company, is located in the vibrant community of Fresno, California. Venu Works operates the Fresno Convention and Entertainment Center (FCEC) on behalf of the City of Fresno, which consists of four entertainment venues including Selland Arena, Saroyan Theatre, Valdez Hall, and the Exhibit Hall. The Executive Director will manage the FCEC operations and relationships with partners, venue owners, and the community.

Summary

The Executive Director is a senior professional who oversees the management, promotion, and operation of the managed venues and all related departments. The role includes shaping overall culture, maximizing revenue opportunities, and working in unison with City of Fresno and community stakeholders to attract events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with the contract administrator(s), City of Fresno departments, Visit Fresno County CVB, facility clients, community stakeholders, labor unions, and civic organizations.
  • Provide cohesive and positive leadership and direction to all departments and Venu Works staff.
  • Aggressively promote the use of the facility with agents, promoters, and the community to maximize the number of annual events in each venue. Negotiate lease agreements with event organizers.
  • Serve as fiscal oversight officer for all managed business units including budget development, financial systems, projections, controls, and personnel management.
  • Provide oversight and administration for each operating unit, ensuring safe operation, cleanliness, and financial management of sales & marketing, operations, programming, and community relations.
  • Provide oversight and compliance with the joint operating agreement with ATG Entertainment and the third‑party concessions and catering vendor.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Seek out community involvement opportunities, such as speaking engagements and media interviews.
  • Monitor compliance with the management contract(s) and negotiate contractual agreements as necessary.
  • Provide final approval of all contracts and agreements with licensees, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Complete annual reporting and communicate successes to stakeholders.
  • Research, develop, and maintain relationships with artists, agents, promoters and oversee programming for all managed venues.
  • Provide guidance on marketing and ticket operations to maximize sales per event.
  • Provide guidance on maximizing revenues from sponsor ships, grants, donations, naming rights, and vendor trade.
  • Oversee third‑party food and beverage operations and staff, including full‑service catering and concessions.
  • Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate administrative and supervisory staff.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate and direct all activities and staff engaged in maintaining and operating the venues.
  • Complete continuous performance appraisals and make salary/bonus recommendations.
  • Conduct leadership and staff meetings consistently.
  • Direct development and administration of facility operating budgets.
  • Oversee and advise on staffing plans, including employee numbers, functions, salaries and benefits.
  • Create an exceptional working environment for all staff.
  • Maintain daily oversight of operations and event activity to achieve annual goals.
  • Ensure efficient operations, including capital maintenance and improvement projects.
  • Ensure operations comply with applicable local, state and federal regulations.
  • Oversee staff compliance with OSHA, NFPA and other risk mitigation initiatives and Venu Works insurance reporting policies.
  • Maintain emergency preparedness and compliance with licensing procedures, codes, and permits.
  • Implement plans and programs prescribed by Venu Works corporate direction, including Human Resources, Sales & Marketing, quality assurance, operational efficiency, safety, emergency procedures, and crowd control.
