Veterinary Technician - Emergency

Blue Pearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work swings and overnights in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department in Fresno, CA.

Shift Needs: Wednesday - Sunday - 8-hour shifts: 2pm-10pm, 3pm-11pm, 4pm-12am, and 9pm-5am/10pm-6am/11pm-7am

Pay: $22.00 - $41.75 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and depends on experience and advancement through Kahuna leveling system. We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked during nights and weekends, based on a 4-hour minimum.

Examples of shift differentials:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.00 Shift Differential

Blue Pearl offers a fast-paced environment for Veterinary Technicians to utilize and expand their skills, working alongside talented veterinary professionals.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, your responsibilities include:

• Inducing, monitoring, and recovering anesthesia, using anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases, obtain vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.

Additional responsibilities include understanding normal vital sign ranges, interpreting blood pressure and other vital signs, initiating CPR when needed, calculating medical math, administering medications, performing phlebotomy, placing intravenous catheters, and maintaining feeding tubes and central line catheters. Mentoring and training colleagues, and addressing client concerns with patience and empathy are also key.
