Experienced Field Service Technician

Join the Service team at Raymond West as an Experienced Field Service Technician. This is a unique opportunity to troubleshoot and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment while working independently and building lasting customer relationships.

All makes of material handling equipment are serviced, troubleshooted and repaired at customer locations. Prior mechanical work experience is required.

• Repair all types of equipment that Raymond West sells and services.
• Update training and skills on a continuing basis.
• Train other employees as needed.
• Maintain a profitable billing level.
• Follow all Service Department procedures.
• Communicate with assigned Field Supervisor.
• Complete all paperwork transactions in a timely, neat, accurate and orderly fashion.
• Communicate all options to customers before proceeding with work.
• Have the necessary tools to perform repair and scheduled service work.
• Complete jobs within quoted time limits when applicable.
• Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle.
• Maintain an accurate assigned parts inventory, if applicable.
• Represent the entire company at all times.
• Pass Raymond Certification and re‑certification if applicable.
• Maintain a good working knowledge of customers and equipment in assigned areas.
• Maintain an acceptable driving record as established by the company’s insurance carrier.
• Report accidents whether self or customer.
• Account for 100% of available time during working hours.
• Must be willing to work overtime when necessary.
• Must coordinate all overtime with assigned supervisor.
• Must follow all procedures in the company’s Employee Handbook.
• Must follow safety procedures and use good judgment in regard to safety.
• Must be willing to work out of town as necessary.
• Establish a positive rapport with customers.
• Perform other specific duties and projects as assigned by the Service Supervisors or Managers.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and similar software
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
• Must be able to maintain effective working relationships with employees, co‑workers, and managers in other departments.
• Must be willing to work off‑hours as specific needs dictate and assume more responsibility as required.
• Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
• Must be self‑motivated and able to manage time efficiently.
• Must be customer oriented.
• Ability to deal with customers on a face‑to‑face basis.
• Maintain a sound working relationship with other technicians and fellow workers.
• Must pass all available certificates appropriate to the position.
• Must have working knowledge of basic DC and AC electricity, internal combustion and diesel engines.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Basic arithmetic in all units of measure.
• Will be Raymond Level 1 Certified or working towards that goal, if applicable.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with no more than the allowable level of points on record, if applicable.
• Maintain personally owned tools according to approved minimum tool list.
• Maintain additional tools as required by duties and certification level.
• Must be able to take direction.
• Must be a team player.
• Must have working knowledge of hydraulic systems.
• Must have mechanical abilities.
• Must maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance.
• Willing and able to learn quickly and perform accurately and neatly with a degree of flexibility.

• High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
• 2+ years prior mechanical experience in the material handling or large equipment industry.
• Familiarity and ownership of hand tools is required.
• Knowledge of internal combustion engines is helpful, but not required.
