Position: R&D Textile Coloration Engineer (Swiss, Onisite)

About the Role

Our client is an innovative materials engineering company developing lightweight and sustainable solutions for demanding industrial applications.

We are looking for an R&D Textile Coloration Engineer to develop and industrialise dyeing, finishing, and surface-treatment processes for technical textile materials. You will translate customer requirements into practical solutions, manage laboratory and pilot trials, and support the transition from initial samples to repeatable serial production. CONTRACT:
Permanent employment

LOCATIONS:
On-site in the Fribourg region, Switzerland

NOTES:
Occasional travel to manufacturing and development partners is required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and optimise textile dyeing, coloration, and finishing processes.
  • Translate customer specifications into technically feasible material solutions.
  • Conduct laboratory trials and evaluate samples against defined requirements.
  • Assess colour consistency, UV resistance, durability, and colour fastness.
  • Prepare technical documentation, test plans, and quality specifications.
  • Coordinate sampling and pilot-production activities with external partners.
  • Support the scale-up of laboratory processes into industrial manufacturing.
  • Establish quality-control methods for repeatable serial production.
  • Investigate interactions between fibres, chemical treatments, and downstream manufacturing.
  • Improve process efficiency, sustainability, and production cost.
  • Master’s degree in Textile Technology, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
    .
  • At least 2 years of experience in textile dyeing, coloration, finishing, or fabric treatment.
  • Practical experience developing or scaling laboratory processes for industrial production.
  • Knowledge of colour measurement, colour fastness, durability, and textile quality control.
  • Experience preparing technical documentation and manufacturing specifications.
  • Experience with natural fibres, yarns, technical textiles, or composite materials.
  • Background in automotive, mobility, industrial textiles, or other quality-sensitive applications.
  • Professional fluency in English.
  • Availability to work on-site in Switzerland and travel when required.
