Temporary para educator position to work with students at Hayes Elementary School for the school year. Dates are approximately 1/5/26 – 3/13/26.
Schedule:
3 hours/day Monday – Friday mid‑day, when school is in session.
The supervising para educator position supports and supervises children in the lunchroom and at recess during the middle of the school day.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to relate to and communicate with staff and students
- Patience and flexibility in working with special needs students
- Willingness to expand skills
- Ability to take direction of supervising teacher
- Ability to keep information confidential
- Ability to model and reinforce appropriate verbal and interpersonal behavior
- Meet the requirements of being highly qualified by either showing evidence of having earned at least 60 post‑secondary credits or passing the Para Pro Exam within the employee probationary period.
Minimum qualifications include:
- Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the Minnesota Department of Education, Fridley Public Schools must meet highly qualified requirements. Therefore, upon hire, all hires must be Highly Qualified – Applicants meet the Highly Qualified requirement if they have:
- Two years of study at an institution of higher education;
Minnesota’s standard; a minimum of 60 semester credits or the amount required to complete two years of full‑time enrollment as determined by the institution attended OR - An Associate’s (or higher) degree;
Minnesota’s standard:
An AA, AS, AAS, (or higher) degree - Received a passing score on the Para Pro Assessment

Step 1 at $22.50/hr to Step 5 at $26.00/hr, placement will vary depending on education and experience. View salary grid on the respective bargaining unit listed above, accessible via our Master Agreements page.
