Job Overview
Band 6 Orthopaedic Physiotherapist, 37.5 hours per week – including weekend working on a rostered basis.

The Trauma and Orthopaedic Department at Frimley Health is home to one of the largest orthopaedic units in South East England. Our well‑established service at Frimley Park Hospital is supported by over 25 orthopaedic consultants and a dedicated physiotherapy team of 16 staff.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your expertise within a specialist orthopaedic setting. You will manage a varied and rewarding caseload, including spinal cord injuries, complex multi‑trauma and complex elective surgery patients.
Applicants must demonstrate relevant Band 5 clinical experience, strong clinical knowledge, excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. Experience of line management is desirable but not essential.
Responsibilities- Supervise and appraise rotational staff and students.
- Receive structured support and supervision from an experienced Team Leader, two Clinical Leads and a Principal Physiotherapist.
- Attend weekly MDT trauma meetings.
- Contribute to the in‑service training programme.
- Participate in service audit and quality improvement initiatives.
- Engage in a dedicated senior orthopaedic in‑service training programme alongside Band 6, 7 and 8a colleagues, designed to enhance clinical reasoning, specialist knowledge and presentation skills.

Job DescriptionYou will be responsible for managing a busy and often complex orthopaedic caseload, working alongside Band 5 Physiotherapists and assistant staff to deliver a high‑quality physiotherapy service. This will include assessment, treatment planning and safe discharge of patients, using sound clinical reasoning to tailor rehabilitation programmes that support effective patient flow.
Role Also Involves- Supervising and teaching newly qualified physiotherapists, technicians, assistants and students.
- Contributing to the education of MDT colleagues.
- Participating actively in continuing professional development and departmental activities.
- Completion of Band 5 rotations. This includes experience in the relevant clinical areas, General Medicine, Orthopaedics, Surgical/ICU, Elderly Care, Neuro, Outpatients.
- Evidence of management of complex orthopaedic in patients.
- Evidence of service improvement/audit.
- Evidence of risk assessment.
- Experience of working with spinal cord injured patients in a ward setting.
- Supervised / qualified physio / student / assistant.
- Basic management skills.
- Teaching skills.
- Demonstrate up to date knowledge of best clinical practice in relevant speciality.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety Issues and Clinical Governance.
- Understanding of professional ethics and their application in practice.
- HCPC registration.
- Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy.
