Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Junior Sister / Charge Nurse | Health NHS Foundation Trust

As a Junior Sister / Charge Nurse, you will be a senior member of the nursing team, providing expert clinical care, leadership, and operational coordination across a diverse range of services including angiography, CT, ultrasound, and nurse‑led sedation. Working alongside the Band 5 leadership team, you will have the opportunity to independently assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate complex patient care while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and evidence‑based practice.

This is an exciting role for an experienced nurse looking to further develop their leadership skills within a specialist setting. You will be instrumental in coordinating daily department activity, optimising patient flow and room utilisation, and maintaining safe staffing levels to support an efficient and responsive service. You will also deputise for the Band 5 Team Leader when required, helping to ensure seamless service delivery and strong clinical leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Work according to the NMC Code of Conduct (2008), HCPC Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics (2008), and HCPC Standards of Proficiency for ODPs (2008).
  • Be responsible and accountable for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care without supervision for a defined group of patients.
  • Lead and monitor the performance and standards of care within the Interventional Radiology Nursing team.
  • Facilitate the development of the service and personal development of all staff within the clinical area of responsibility in conjunction with the Band 5 team leader.
  • Deputise for the Band 5 team leader in their absence, attending appropriate meetings, and maintaining an organised and structured workforce.
  • Lead the nurses with the day‑to‑day operational requirements of the IR team, ensuring efficient use of room utilisation whilst maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff.
