Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Sister to join the Day Surgery Unit (DSU 1 &
2) and Pre-Operative Department (POD) at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.
DSU 1 & 2 and POD are busy, dynamic departments dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. We pride ourselves on fostering a supportive and inclusive working environment where every member of the team is valued and encouraged to develop their skills and expertise.
The successful candidate will play a key leadership role within the department, supporting the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care while working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced nurse looking to further develop their leadership and clinical skills within a friendly and supportive team.
Main duties of the jobWe care for patients undergoing Urology, Colorectal, Upper Gastrointestinal, Breast, Gynaecology and ENT surgery. At times, we also support and care for patients requiring emergency general surgery alongside elective surgical patients. We have the unique opportunity to care for both elective day surgery patients within DSU 1 and POD, as well as inpatient surgical patients within DSU 2.
The ward offers excellent support to new members of the team, and there are a variety of training opportunities available to support your development.
A full induction to the ward and the Band 6 role will be provided, and ongoing professional development will be supported through the appraisal system. There are opportunities to undertake leadership courses and a Surgical Acute Care course.
