Senior Staff Accountant - Restaurant

Job Summary

As a key member of our finance team, the Senior Staff Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity of Layne’s Chicken. You’ll oversee financial reporting for our stores, support period-end and year-end close processes, and collaborate with other departments to strengthen the company’s financial stability. This position reports to the Controller and works closely with the Operations team.

Responsibilities
  • Manage general ledger activities, financial reporting, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Lead the period-end and year-end closing activities for our stores
  • Assist with franchise and G&A accounting tasks
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports to identify variances and opportunities for improvement
  • Partner with operations to ensure accurate reporting and resolve discrepancies
  • Support budgeting and forecasting initiatives
  • Assist with audits and ad hoc requests as needed
  • Collaborate with other departments to improve processes and efficiency
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller or Operations team
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 5+ years of experience, preferably in a high volume, multi-unit, or full cycle restaurant accounting environment
  • 2+ years of senior accounting experience preferred
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and restaurant industry financial practices
  • Ability to work independently while supporting accounting team members
  • Intermediate Excel and other Microsoft product skills
  • Experience with Restaurant 365 is a plus
