Department Summary
The Department of Mathematics seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Instructor Pool and welcomes applicants at any time. This posting is for the Fall 2025, Spring 2026, and Summer 2026 semesters. The specific courses involved may vary from semester to semester and openings to teach these courses develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs.
The anticipated need is for Adjunct Instructors whose duties may include, but are not limited to teaching generally lower-division mathematics courses such as: algebra, business math, business calculus, calculus, survey of mathematics, elementary statistics, linear algebra, and differential equations. Prospective adjuncts must be available to teach in-person on the UNT Denton campus.
Position Overview
Adjuncts teach 1-4 classes per semester.
• Expected to hold office hours per departmental policy
• Adjunct position focuses on entry-level courses (i.e. Developmental courses, College Algebra, Survey of Math, Math for Business/Econ, Business Calculus, Elementary Statistics, Pre Calculus and Calculus)
Minimum Qualifications
• For Developmental Mathematics Courses - Bachelor's degree in mathematics and 10 years of direct professional experience.
• For credit-bearing courses - Master’s degree in mathematics, statistics, or related field including 18 graduate semester credit hours in mathematics (MATH) or statistics (STAT) prefixed courses
Preferred Qualifications
PhD in mathematics or closely related field
• Experience with online learning platforms such as:
Canvas, My Labs Math , Webassign, ALEKS
• Experience supervising teaching assistants
• Experience teaching mathematics classes with over 100 students
• Available to teach early morning and late evening
