Position Summary:

To assist classroom teachers in the instructional process, reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students in a classroom environment. Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and implementation of lesson plans and provide routine support. Assist students with academic and/or physical needs in order for students to access the educational environment.

• Assist the ELC department in implementing classroom instruction based on predefined curriculum
• Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment for children
• Assist the lead teacher in ensuring the physical, social, cognitive, spiritual, and educational excellence of the children
• Ensure that the classroom is aesthetically attractive so that students enjoy their surroundings while learning
• Provide support to the lead teacher in planning lessons, preparing materials, and daily activities based on the principles of child development
• Ensure development of positive relationships with children which promotes self esteem and self discipline
• Provide comfort to distressed children through compassion and tact
• Provide children with support during lunchtime and ensure that their nutritional needs are fulfilled
• Escort children to the restroom and assist them when necessary
• Oversee children to make sure that they are safe during outdoor activities
• Assume the lead teacher's role in the absence thereof if necessary
• Ensure positive relationships with lead teachers and other School staff
• Provide support to the lead teacher with clean up at the end of the day
• Provide assistance and/or instruction for special classes as directed by the ELC Principal (example – music, Spanish, PE, chapel, etc.)
• Maintain a positive attitude and desire to be flexible for the good of the ELC program
• Ensure the confidentiality of each child's records, academic progress, and behavior
• Attend faculty meetings, professional development training, and other events as required by the ELC Principal
• Assist children with exiting and entering vehicles during morning and afternoon carlines
• Assist in other areas as deemed necessary by the ELC Principal and lead teacher
