The System Architecture Engineer’s role is to develop and evolve technical network and service architectures and design strategies to maintain, enhance, and evolve the T‑Mobile Technology portfolio. This role is responsible to improves and protects the software, infrastructure, and network systems that power T‑Mobile’s IT and customer‑facing services. This role ensures scalability, availability, performance, security, and reliability across applications and networks, with a strong focus on proactively identifying and preventing network issues before they impact customers.

The engineer will play a critical role in outage bridges, leveraging KPIs, telemetry, and AI‑driven analytics to pinpoint problems with speed and accuracy.

From designing & maintaining CI/CD pipelines to operating large‑scale network infrastructure (Cisco, Juniper, Check Point, F5, Infoblox, A10), the SNRE enables great customer experiences through automation, observability, and innovation.

Specific tasks may include the creation, adaption, or revision of detailed schematics of network and service architecture, hardware and software selections, and implementation techniques and processes. May be required to perform, evaluate, or interpret network simulation, test results, or leading edge technology studies. Technical documentation and presentation skills are required in order to translate complex ideas to a wide range of audiences.

Influence and drive industry forums. Consistently works on complex technical assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve issues. Makes recommendations for new procedures. Works on unique issues where analysis of situation or data requires an evaluation of intangibles. Exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluations criteria for obtaining results. Creates formal networks involving coordination among groups.

Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments. Informal supervision of other’s work assignments.

Reliability Engineering

• Create new designs, architectures, and standards for delivering software and network services faster, better, and more reliably.
• Improve scalability, latency, and efficiency of T‑Mobile’s applications and network services.
• Contribute to cloud enablement, containerization, and microservices reliability.
• Manage improvement work, PoCs, and future automation projects.

Network Reliability & Operations

• Diagnose and resolve complex issues in routers, firewalls, load balancers, DNS, and global traffic managers (Cisco, Juniper, Check Point, A10, Infoblox, BIND, F5 GTM).
• Proactively forecast and address capacity and performance bottlenecks to prevent outages.
• Provide network expertise on outage bridges, rapidly identifying root causes using developed KPIs and telemetry.
• Define standards and playbooks for fault prevention and outage handling.

Observability & Telemetry

• Build and operationalize telemetry pipelines with Service Now AIOps, Dynatrace, Thousand Eyes, Sev One, Splunk, and Open Telemetry (OTEL).
• Develop AI/ML‑driven models to detect anomalies and predict failures across network, infrastructure, cloud, DNS, and application layers.
• Create and maintain dashboards and health checks for real‑time visibility into system and network reliability.

Cloud, Automation & Infrastructure‑as‑Code

• Use Terraform and IaC to deploy and manage infrastructure and applications in AWS cloud.
• Integrate reliability practices into CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops workflows.

• Define, measure, and optimize performance KPIs, SLIs, and SLOs across hybrid environments (on‑prem + cloud).
