About the role
Sr. Engineer, Software – Splunk Systems, Frisco, TX. Telecommuting is allowed, but candidates must work from the Frisco location at least 3‑4 days a week. No additional national or international travel is expected.
Responsibilities- Analyze and tune Splunk application and servers to maximize system performance.
- Deploy Splunk configurations for data onboarding and maintenance/upgrade activities.
- Implement off‑the‑shelf and custom monitoring solutions to detect and resolve platform issues.
- Respond to Splunk incidents, including those outside business hours.
- Educate and respond to user inquiries about Splunk.
- Collaborate with the Automation team to manage multiple Splunk deployments.
- Participate in design discussions with principals and cross‑functional teams.
- Support on‑call rotation to maintain Splunk platform reliability.
- Provide support for scheduled patching.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers.
- Identify and improve sub‑optimal processes.
- Partner with internal teams to understand logging requirements and align Splunk solutions.
- Stay current on Splunk releases and features; complete training as needed.
- Participate in compliance audits (SOX, CPNI, PCI).
- Master’s degree in Computer and Information Technology, Computer and Information Science, or related discipline and at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
- OR Bachelor’s degree in the same fields and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Splunk Administration – proficiency in multi‑site Splunk environments, including Universal Forwarder, HEC, syslog‑ng, indexer clustering, search head clustering, and index replication.
- Splunk Processing Language (SPL) – advanced search queries, reports, dashboards, REST APIs, and scripting in Python or JavaScript.
- UNIX/Linux System Administration – strong Bash and Python scripting, OS‐level troubleshooting.
- Server Patching and Networking – automation with Ansible, network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP), Wireshark, Nmap, tcpdump, A10 load balancers and aXAPI.
- Computer Networking – routing and switching, Cisco routers, Juniper firewalls, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, trace route, ping, netstat.
- CI/CD Pipelines and Automation – design and implementation of pipelines, Puppet, Ansible.
- Cloud Platforms – AWS, Azure, Kubernetes for logging and monitoring integration.
- Minimum age 18 years.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.

- Position requires 40 hours/week; salary $156,998 per year (base pay range provided).
- No travel required.
