- Professional Specialization: leading in orthopedics, contributing to patients’ well‑being.
- Supervise OR staff to ensure smooth daily case flow.
- Coordinate daily case scheduling with other staff (O.R. & X‑Ray).
- Prepare monthly call schedules.
- Act as Risk Quality nurse and backup pharmacy nurse.
- Communicate effectively with physicians to resolve issues and maintain efficiency.
- Order instruments and equipment for cases.
- Coordinate inventory quarterly in all OR areas.
- Assist with OR education by coordinating or delivering in‑services.
- Prepare schedules for the next day.
- Resolve equipment or instrument issues by coordinating ordering or repairs.
- Communicate with vendors and representatives for supplies, equipment, or instruments.
- Coordinate with Materials and Sterile Processing Department for supplies and instrument needs.
- Prepare and administer annual evaluations.
- Assist manager with hiring and orienting OR staff members.
- Help revise and prepare policies related to OR functions.
- Assist in maintaining compliance for Joint Commission surveys.
- Enter data into Kronos time‑keeping program.
- Assist with staff counseling as necessary.
- Coordinate and assist in Performance Improvement Projects.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school or professional nursing program.
- Baccalaureate degree preferred or work‑related experience.
- Three (3) years’ experience in surgery.
- Current RN license.
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS required.
- CNOR preferred.
- Independent decision‑making skills.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
- Excellent communication skills with staff, physicians, patients, families, and vendors.
- Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures specific to the operating room.
- Clinically proficient in OR nursing skills, knowledge of developmental needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
