Job Summary and Qualifications
  • The Nurse Manager accepts responsibility for all department functions in support of the mission, vision, values and facility goals.
  • The Nurse Manager is a clinical RN who accepts responsibility for critical thinking decisions within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act.
  • You are responsible for patient safety of the surgical services in a clinical practice environment.
  • You integrate the management of information and effective communication skills in daily practice.
  • You build on ANA Standards of Care and Standards of Professional Practice.
  • You serve as liaison to foster a partnership with the patient and significant others.
  • You construct decisions to support the continuity of care and the coordination of care across settings.
  • You recognize the role of the Nurse Manager to maintain high quality, age‑specific care from adolescent through adult patients.
  • You create surgery department‑specific initiatives and process improvement.
  • You integrate collaborative practice and working relationships with all members of the healthcare team.
  • You are responsible for management of multiple levels of personnel (including supervisory positions), payroll, budget, capital, business plan, and physician relationships.
  • You serve as liaison for hospital, community and other institutions.
  • You organize and supervise human and material resources.
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required;
    Advanced degree preferred.
Licensure / Certification
  • Current RN license for the State of Texas or compact license required.
  • Current AHA or ARC BLS provider.
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years management experience, including management of personnel, payroll, budgets, capital, business planning, marketing, supervisory positions and physician relations preferred.
