Accounting Technician-I (Warren County Fire & Rescue)County of Warren
Warren county is seeking highly motivated and skilled candidates to fill the position of Accounting Technician. This is a full time position that performs intermediate technical and clerical work involving the preparation and/or maintenance of fiscal or related records.
This position is responsible for preparing and assisting with the maintenance of financial records, entering, verifying, and checking data; preparing financial reports and balancing accounts.
Other duties include maintaining numerous funds and accounts, maintaining complex accounting records, applying and submitting grants, journal entries for Warren County Fire & Rescue, Warren County Fire & Rescue Volunteer and general ledger accounts, reviews payroll reports for accuracy, balances accounts with the trial balances monthly, uploads p-card transactions to Warren County Fire & Rescue financial system, reconciles various statements, researches accounting issues and new accounting pronouncements, recommends actions to C100/C101/ Program managers, answers department inquiry into reconciling transactions to the general ledger, records debt insurance, payments, and schedules, invoices for CPR, reimbursements to Warren County Fire & Rescue and files and maintains invoices for accounts payable and receivable.
A successful candidate will have thorough knowledge of accounting terminology, methods, procedures and equipment; general knowledge of standard office procedures, practices and equipment; through knowledge of computer systems and their application in a variety of office environments; preference for AS400 experience; proficient in Excel, reporting, general knowledge of accounting principles and related data processing equipment; ability to understand and follow oral and written directions;
ability to establish and follow detailed work procedures; experience with applying and submitting grants, ability to post accounts and to perform mathematical computations with speed and accuracy; skill to use a variety of office machines and some typing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, vendors and the general public.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in accounting and some experience in public accounting or fund accounting.
The starting salary for this position is $39,936.00 depending on qualifications and experience, with an excellent benefits package.
