Warehouse Supervisor

Summary

This position supervises warehouse and distribution activities to promote safe, efficient, and optimal utilization of facilities, equipment, and personnel. The Warehouse Supervisor ensures work standards are met to accurately receive, put away, and ship merchandise while maintaining warehouse integrity, security, and productivity. This role requires strong communication, leadership, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.

• Communicate effectively and positively with colleagues and management
• Monitor receiving and shipping processes to ensure efficient unloading, put-away, selection, and loading of product
• Reinforce company policies, Preferred Work Methods, and Best Business Practices
• Plan and schedule staffing to cover vacations, holidays, workers’ compensation, and shift coverage
• Balance workflow across departments to maintain productivity using labor management systems
• Coach, evaluate, recognize, and address performance through ongoing colleague feedback
• Reduce overtime using the Daily Planning Tool
• Partner with Transportation to maximize receiving and shipping flow
• Work closely with Inventory Control and Operations Systems to maintain product integrity and proper rotation
• Foster a collaborative, engaged, and performance-driven work environment
• Maintain accurate and timely colleague documentation and records
• Act as a problem solver for colleague relations and departmental needs
• Minimize warehouse shrink through effective inventory controls
• Ensure warehouse, equipment appearance, maintenance, and security
• Enforce safety rules and participate in safety committees and coaching initiatives
• Conduct stay interviews with direct reports and follow up on feedback
• Review and approve timekeeping records to meet payroll deadlines
• Ensure safe and professional use of warehouse systems, computers, and RF equipment
• Comply with all company policies, codes of conduct, and attendance requirements
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, HACCP, food safety policies, and regulatory requirements
• Support food safety programs and Sysco’s Food Safety Commitment
• Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned

• Directly supervise 15–25 warehouse colleagues
• Recruit, interview, hire, train, and develop staff
• Plan, assign, and direct work while evaluating and coaching performance
• Manage confidential information in compliance with company and legal standards

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Internal non-exempt candidates must be in a lead role or have prior supervisory experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to plan, organize, analyze data, and solve problems
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Ability to pass a functional capacity test

• High school diploma or GED required
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
  , or 3–5 years of warehouse experience
  , or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Completion of a supervisory training program required
