Job description

Golden Seal Enterprises is looking for a professional, unarmed Campus Security Officer. Officers must have excellent customer service skills, great verbal and written skills, be well groomed, reliable, and follow GSE company standards of conduct including no use of tobacco products while on duty and short, trimmed facial hair.

Must be able to work Sundays from 6am to 2pm AND two NIGHT shifts from 10pm to 6am (days to be mutually agreed upon) - MUST BE ABLE TO WORK ALL THREE SHIFTS!

Pay is $17.50 an hour.

* Summary/Objective

* Observes and reports activities and incidents at an assigned client campus, providing for the security and safety of campus property, faculty and staff, students, and information. Makes periodic tours to check for irregularities, inspect the functionality of security and safety systems, and detect the presence of unauthorized persons. Preserves order and may act to enforce regulations and directives for the campus pertaining to faculty and staff, students, visitors, and premises.

  • Patrols assigned campus on foot and in vehicle; checks for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, faulty access control systems, security violations, blocked ingress and egress, suspicious behavior, mechanical problems, and unauthorized persons; inspects buildings and grounds.
  • Prepares logs or reports as required and documents all activity relating to assigned duties; writes or types reports or enters information in a computer or phone device using standard grammar.
  • Assists in controlling access to campus through the designated admittance process according to campus procedure; acts upon any access control violations observed.
  • Provides excellent customer service to the faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
  • Monitors entrances and exits; acts to prevent unapproved or unlawful entry; calmly directs persons to leave the property as needed upon client request.
  • Observes and reports incidents, suspicious activity, or safety/security concerns to campus representatives, life/safety personnel, or public safety authorities as appropriate for the circumstances and/or as required by the campus.
  • Responds to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other incidents or conditions following procedures established for the campus, by law, and/or through training or certification.
  • Communicates in an open, honest, and responsive manner in all situations, to the extent authorized.
  • Protects evidence or scene of incident in the event of accidents, emergencies, or security investigations; establishes a perimeter and provides direction or information to others.
  • Carries out other tasks and duties of a similar nature and scope as required for the campus.
  • Upholds and abides by the GSE Security Officer Standards of Conduct and the DCJS Code of Ethics.
  • Completes required training to maintain DCJS registration as needed.
