Responsibilities
  • Ensure reliable and punctual attendance and presence on all scheduled days.
  • Communicate necessary information to all team members appropriately.
  • Evaluate and treat acute care and swing‑bed patients as prescribed by a licensed physician, covering a wide spectrum of diagnoses.
  • Supervise and direct occupational therapy assistants, students and rehab aides.
  • Perform appropriate assessments on each patient, including pediatric, adolescent, geriatric and general populations, and reassess as per policy.
  • Formulate teaching plans based on identified learning needs and evaluate learning effectiveness; involve families as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency of occupational therapy modalities.
  • Treat patients and families with respect, dignity and address psychosocial needs.
  • Operate and manage equipment safely; maintain department cleanliness and safety.
  • Interact professionally with patients/families and involve them in plan of care development.
  • Communicate clearly to physicians, staff and administrative team.
  • Coordinate and direct patient care to meet needs and follow hospital policy.
  • Maintain relevant departmental records.
  • Show flexibility, organization and ability to function under stressful situations.
  • Maintain positive working relationships within and across departments.
  • Collaborate with other departments for patient care and improvement activities.
  • Ensure accurate patient charges are entered within 24 hours of service.
  • Complete required documentation (progress, daily, discharge notes, insurance forms) within 24 hours of service.
  • Participate in staff performance improvement, orientation and educational training programs.
  • Coordinate, delegate and supervise responsibilities of supportive staff (COTA, rehab aides, etc.).
  • Accurately enter patient charges promptly.
  • Participate in infection control, departmental equipment training and safety programs.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
  • Education

    Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution, or a program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). States no and the health care has it.

    Licenses & Certifications

    Current Colorado Occupational Therapy license in good standing.
    Current registration with the National Occupational Therapy Credentialing Board (NOTCB).
    Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

    Experience

    One or more years of experience in all aspects of occupational therapy is preferred.
