About Family Health West
Founded by the community in 1946, Family Health West is a hospital that emphasizes warmth, passion, and care. We operate a 25-bed critical access hospital, one of the largest rehab providers in western Colorado, outpatient surgical services, specialty clinics, emergency services, skilled nursing, and assisted living facilities. We are nestled at the base of the Colorado National Monument, offering an outdoor-focused community for outdoor lovers.
Essential Functions
- Checks schedule each day to confirm work day schedule (schedules are subject to change).
- Reliable and punctual attendance; expected to be at work as scheduled each day.
- Accurately and truthfully complete patient records in a timely manner.
- Work harmoniously with physicians and clerical staff to meet patient needs.
- Take and record vital signs, height/weight, intake/output, collection of routine urine specimens, and monitor/record elimination.
- Provide medical assistance to patients at the direction of the physician and within scope of practice as it applies to medical training.
- May carry out therapeutic measures under physician direction (e.g., changes of bandages, suture removal, splint application, heat/cold application).
- Assist with transporting patients within the facility for x-ray, CT, and/or lab services; assist with transport to and from patient vehicles or designated transportation.
- Assist with transfers or admissions to other physicians or facilities.
- Ensure continuing education requirements and preventive medicine changes are up to date (vaccines, mammograms, PAP, colonoscopy, and other preventive needs).
- Work collaboratively with clinic staff on programs to improve patient outcomes.
- Provide patient education as directed by the physician.
- Complete daily routine assignments.
- Assist with coordination of work with Clinical Nurse Manager/Clinical Staff Manager for follow up on missed appointments, reminder calls, and high-risk referrals; track abnormal PAPS and mammograms and ensure proper follow up and referrals as assigned.
- Serve as back up for clinical team members as needed (vacations, illnesses, lunches, etc.).
- Support development of education and in-service for staff under supervision of the Clinical Nurse Manager/Clinical Staff Manager.
- Other job related duties as assigned.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Licenses
- Current Medical Assistant Certification and/or Registration required through an accredited organization (e.g., AMT, AAMA, NHA).
Certifications
- Current BLS Certification.
Experience
- Minimum of one year of hands-on medical assisting duties or related education. Preferred six (6) months medical assistant scribe experience.
Wage Range
The wage starts at $20.00 per hour and goes up with experience.
Immunizations required for employment, including flu vaccine.
