Plan and deliver engaging English lessons in line with the school s adopted curriculum covering English Language and Literature across the designated key stages Teach core literacy skills including reading comprehension creative and analytical writing grammar vocabulary development speaking and listening Introduce students to a diverse range of literary texts including prose poetry drama and non-fiction from various cultures and historical periods including where appropriate Arab and Gulf literature in translation Use a variety of instructional strategies e g discussion group work independent study drama activities and digital tools to cater to different learning styles and abilities Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of a diverse range of learners including EAL students students with special educational needs and high achievers Foster creativity self-expression critical thinking and a love for reading and writing in all students Assess record and report on student progress regularly using formative assessments e g classwork homework participation and summative assessments e g essays examinations projects Provide constructive timely and meaningful feedback to students to support their improvement and build their confidence Prepare students for internal and external examinations where applicable such as IGCSE A-Level AP or IB Diploma Maintain accurate records of student attendance grades and progress Collaborate with colleagues in the English Department and across the school to plan schemes of work share best practices and support cross-curricular initiatives e g History Drama Organise and lead extracurricular activities such as Debate Club Creative Writing Club School Newspaper Book Club or Drama productions Promote a whole-school culture of literacy including contributing to school events assemblies and reading initiatives Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress upcoming events and strategies for support Uphold and actively promote safeguarding child protection and behaviour management policies at all times We welcome applications from passionate dynamic and student-centred English teachers who can inspire a love for language and literature and equip students with strong communication and critical thinking skills The school values English as a core pillar of education and offers a supportive environment for its English Department to thrive
Qualifications and Experience- Bachelor's Degree in English, English Literature, Education, or a closely related field.
- Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE,
B.Ed., QTS, or equivalent). - Minimum 2 3 years of full-time teaching experience in a school setting.
- Strong subject knowledge , with a passion for English Language and Literature.
- Excellent communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills .
