Airport Duty Officer – Airside Operations

Monitor and coordinate daily airside operations during assigned shifts to ensure compliance with applicable safety and operational requirements.

Conduct regular inspections of aprons, taxiways, aircraft stands, service roads, and other designated airside areas to identify hazards, deficiencies, and non-compliance.

Coordinate aircraft stand allocation and support aircraft movements in liaison with the Operations Control Centre (OCC), Air Traffic Control (ATC), and relevant airport stakeholders.

Respond to and appropriately escalation airside incidents, including Foreign Object Debris (FOD), fuel spills, equipment failures, obstructions, and other operational hazards.

Supervise and liaise with ground handling agents, fueling companies, maintenance teams, and other relevant service providers to support safe and efficient aircraft turnaround operations.

Enforce applicable airside safety requirements, including vehicle permits, staff airside passes, PPE compliance, and airside driving regulations.

Maintain accurate shift logs, incident reports, inspection checklists, and other required operational records.

Support emergency response coordination and act as an initial responder on the airside until the relevant emergency services arrive.

Facilitate effective communication and coordination between security, airlines, maintenance, ground handling, OCC, ATC, and other stakeholders involved in aircraft and airside operations.

Escalate significant operational, safety, and compliance matters to the Supervisor or appropriate management level.

Ensure activities within the assigned area are conducted in accordance with applicable airport procedures, GCAA requirements, ICAO standards, and established safety protocols.

A qualified aviation or airport operations professional with a Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Aviation Management, Airport Management, Airport Operations, or a related aviation discipline.

Minimum3 years of relevant experience in airport or airside operations, preferably within an airport environment.

Practical understanding of airside operations, aircraft turnaround activities, apron operations, aircraft stand management, and airport safety procedures.

Knowledge of applicable GCAA and ICAO requirements relating to airport and airside operations.

Strong situational awareness with the ability to identify operational hazards and respond appropriately to time-sensitive situations.

Demonstrated ability to coordinate effectively with OCC, ATC, airlines, ground handling, security, maintenance, and other airport stakeholders.

Strong communication, coordination, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment during operational incidents and emergency situations.

Strong commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, operational discipline, and service continuity.

Professional, accountable, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary airport operations team.
