Job DescriptionThis course encompasses the study and exercise in the special techniques of acting for television and feature films. Emphasis will be placed on audition, script analysis, actor‑to‑camera relationship and fundamental techniques for audition and performance for TV/film. Instructor must be available starting February 2nd, 2026. Course meets Tuesdays and Thursdays 2:00‑4:30 pm.
Responsibilities- Work in close cooperation with the Acting for Camera Program Coordinator and report to the Department Coordinator of the Theatre Arts Department.
- Teach courses in Acting for Camera.
- Practice and prepare repertoire for audition and performance.
- Assist students in editing scene work to create a footage reel.
- Help prepare students to perform professionally in film and audition settings.
- Maintain a friendly, supportive atmosphere for students, staff, faculty, and the public.
Duties and responsibilities are representative and may be modified to meet operational needs.
Minimum Qualifications- Master’s or Master of Fine Arts in drama/theater arts/performance OR Bachelor’s or Bachelor of Fine Arts in drama/theater arts/performance.
- Masters in comparative literature, English, communication studies, speech, literature or humanities OR equivalent qualifications.
- Valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area OR equivalent experience as determined by the District Equivalency Committee.
- Commitment to diversity, including sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Extensive understanding of multi‑camera and single‑camera production and performance techniques.
- In‑depth knowledge of the commercial audition process and production editing.
- Experience with lighting, sound, and directing techniques in multi‑camera and single‑camera settings.
- Directly related professional performance experience.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Expertise in culturally responsive teaching in theater arts, addressing equity gaps for racially minoritized groups.
- Experience with Canvas LMS and collaboration with faculty, staff, and community leaders to support underrepresented students.
$1572.67 – $1725.85 per lecture unit; $1572.67 – $1725.85 per lab parity unit; $1258.16 – $1380.60 per lab unit.
