the department of modern languages and literatures at csu fullerton invites applications for its part-time lecturer pool in french to teach undergraduate courses in french language, culture, literature, linguistics and/or film (beginners to advanced learners).
areas of specialization
we are seeking highly motivated, well-organized individuals to teach in at least two of the following subject areas:
- french language, introductory to advanced
- french/francophone culture, intermediate to advanced
- french/francophone literature, intermediate to advanced
- french linguistics, intermediate to advanced
appointments from the part-time pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on very short notice.
required qualifications
- candidates must hold at least a master’s degree in french or a related field and possess native-like fluency in french to teach lower-division (100- and 200-level) courses, must be at least a ph.d. Candidate (abd) in french or a related field and possess native-like fluency in french in order to teach 300-level courses, and must hold a ph.d. In french or a related field and possess native-like fluency in french in order to teach 400-level courses.
- candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.
- this position requires the legal right to work in the united states of america. California state university, fullerton cannot sponsor part-time faculty for work visas or permanent residence.
- preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching
- preference will also be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.
- preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities.
