Department of Counseling at California State University, Fullerton invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Counseling with an appointment to begin Fall 2026. The Department of Counseling is a CACREP-accredited program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling that prepares graduate students to seek the Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and the Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) credentials in California.

The Department also offers an nimo concentration, which prepares counselors to provide bilingual/bicultural (Spanish/English) counseling to Latinx communities. The successful candidate will be working in a premier counselor education program in Southern California that enrolls a culturally diverse student body. The successful candidate will be teaching courses that are a part of our core CACREP curriculum with the Clinical Mental Health Counseling specialty. Additionally, our preferred candidate will teach in our nimo Latinx Health Counseling Concentration. The nimo Concentration is designed to address the professional, curricular, and training needs of mental health counselors working with Latinx and Spanish-speaking clients.

Furthermore, the nimo Concentration focuses on developing self‑awareness as a bilingual and bicultural counselor, knowledge of Latinx cultures and therapeutic Spanish, familiarity with interventions appropriate to Latinx and Spanish‑speaking clients, and social justice advocacy for issues relevant to the Latinx community.

CSUF faculty are committed teacher‑scholars who bring research and creative discovery to life for students in classrooms and through individually mentored projects. The candidates are also expected to conduct research that leads to peer‑reviewed publications. The successful candidates will also be expected to contribute to and participate in the life and development of the department, advise students, serve on committees, and participate in the broader university and disciplinary communities.
