Job Description

Special Requirements

The award of all degrees must be verifiable on a legible transcript. If the degree award date is not posted on the transcript, the application will be deemed incomplete and removed from consideration. Grade cards will not be accepted in lieu of transcripts. All degrees and coursework used to satisfy the required minimum qualifications must be submitted and from accredited postsecondary institutions.

Evaluations of foreign degrees and/or coursework are required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s in the language being taught
  • OR Bachelor’s in the language being taught
  • AND Master’s in another language or linguistics
  • OR Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area or the equivalent
  • Commitment to diversity. Applicants must have demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff. The applicant must be able to demonstrate how these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices within the classroom.

Commitment to examine, reflect, and modify instructional, relational, and classroom practices in order to effectively engage and support disproportionately impacted student populations with the goal of closing equity gaps.

Working Conditions and Salary

Salary Range: $1572.67 - $1725.85 per lecture unit rate, $1572.67 - $1725.85 per lab parity unit rate, $1258.16 - $1380.60 per lab unit rate.

Special Instructions Summary

This recruitment will remain active for a period of one year, from the position opening date. If there is no longer a need to fill, the position may be closed sooner, and applicants will be notified. This is a continuous recruitment to fill part-time, and temporary faculty assignments on an as-needed basis. When the need to fill arises, the department will refer to this pool of part-time faculty.
