Finance - Part‑Time Lecturer Pool
Department of Finance – The Department invites applications for its Part‑Time Lecturer Pool.
OverviewThe pool provides temporary, part‑time faculty to support the Department’s teaching load in key Finance areas. Assignments are drawn on an as‑needed basis; appointments are typically for a single semester.
Teaching Responsibilities- Instruction in core subjects:
Corporate Finance, Investment, Financial Institutions, International Finance, Real Estate, Risk Management and Insurance. - Design and deliver semester‑level courses that meet program learning outcomes.
- Develop and update course syllabi, assignments and reading materials in alignment with program standards.
- Assess student work and provide timely feedback.
- Participate in departmental meetings and teaching review activities as required.
- MBA, Master’s, PhD in Finance or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Prior university‑level teaching experience.
- Demonstrated ability to engage a diverse student body, including first‑generation college students.
- Business practice in relevant fields is a plus.
- Significant teaching experience working with diverse populations.
- Current, full‑time professional experience in Finance or a related enterprise.
- Cover letter that specifies qualified courses to teach.

- Unofficial transcripts confirming highest terminal degree.
- Summary of teaching experience (if available).
- Sample syllabi (if available).

Appointments are made as Lecturers under the CSU Collective Bargaining Agreement. Initial appointments are for one semester only.
Classification range: $5,507 – $6,677 per month (Anticipated hiring range not to exceed $6,221 per month). Compensation is prorated to units worked and paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. For a three‑unit assignment, typical starting compensation ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.
Academic CalendarNeed for part‑time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins late August and ends mid‑December; the Spring term runs from mid‑January to end of May. Rarely, part‑time faculty are needed during Summer Session segments.
Performance EvaluationRegular performance evaluations of part‑time lecturers are conducted by the Department in accordance with the CSU Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210. These evaluations determine future retention and teaching assignments.
