In this job, you’ll support the regulatory requirements of Southern California Edison’s electrical distribution system by developing and designing plans, identifying necessary resources, providing cost estimates and options for the construction of distribution facilities. You will also interact with a diverse customer base on meeting electrical design needs and be responsible for providing successful outcomes for the customer and SCE on assigned or requested projects.

Responsibilities
  • Develop construction plans, drawings, and circuit maps; design electrical distribution plans, identify necessary resources, and provide cost estimates. Follow policies, procedures, rules, rates, completion dates, and ensure compliance of electrical designs.
  • Perform relevant calculations with SCE standards and request studies through Engineering when necessary.
  • Interact with a diverse customer base, meeting electrical design needs and providing successful outcomes for the customer and SCE on assigned or requested projects.
  • Participate in small to medium-sized residential, commercial, and industrial projects; assist in determining scope of work, method of service, and construction methods for distribution overhead and underground facilities.
  • Manage work orders/projects and maintain current understanding of industry practices and standards.
  • Provide technical support to licensing and certification proceedings related to new distribution/transmission lines and substation sites.
  • Stay up-to-date on current industry practices, standards and customer needs.
  • Identify environmental requirements and coordinate required project components with other departments, customers, governmental bodies, and external sources.
  • Support project drawings and budgets by monitoring customer timelines and expectations.
  • Manage multiple projects using project management principles, tools, and techniques under tight time constraints, shifting priorities, and making critical decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Manage project risks, resolve issues, and resolve escalations impacting project scope, timeline, and budget (work order pricing).
  • Perform field inspections to gather data for the planning and development review process and to verify compliance with approved plans.
  • Ensure the protection of the company's physical, financial, and cybersecurity assets, and manage private customer data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
  • One or more years of experience in Electrical Utility Distribution Design, Transmission Design, Distribution Line construction, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Valid Class C Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using tariffs, resource books, determining scope of work, method of service, and construction methods for overhead and underground facilities.
  • Experience with engineering principles, construction standards, and industry practices.
  • Experience using database systems for planning, ordering materials, and scheduling work orders.
  • Experience preparing work orders or construction plans on projects.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with clients, peers, management, and other work units.
  • Ability to drive, traverse uneven surfaces, occasionally lift up to 40 lbs, sit/stand for extended periods, work in various weather conditions, and possibly in remote regions (desert and mountain).
