We are seeking a Systems Administrator III to join the IT – Infrastructure Services team as the Cloud Infrastructure Solutions Architect. The role requires a positive attitude, ethical practice, and commitment to inclusivity and integrity.

About

The Position

The Systems Administrator III is responsible for implementing and supporting cloud services across a variety of computing environments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing decoupled cloud infrastructure, implementing proactive scaling, ensuring disaster recovery and business continuity, and maintaining cloud security and serverless infrastructure.
  • Optimizing cloud cost structures and resources.
  • Independently implementing infrastructure automation using modern scripting languages (Shell, Python, or equivalents) and utilizing configuration management and orchestration tools.
  • Applying architectural frameworks such as Service‑Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Domain‑Driven Design (DDD) and leveraging infrastructure‑as‑code platforms.
  • Integrating third‑party SaaS providers into multi‑vendor environments, managing and reviewing cloud resources for availability, and troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Managing directory services and related cloud identity resources, and administering and troubleshooting server environments across virtualization and cloud platforms.
  • Supporting IaaS and PaaS for campus divisions and departments, administering the campus‑wide cloud environment, and assisting with backup and disaster recovery tasks.
  • Co‑ordinating upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting with campus technicians, and arranging scheduled downtime as needed.
  • Planning, testing, and deploying cloud applications to ensure performance and reliability.
  • Participating in advanced project management, mentoring, and stakeholder collaboration.
Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
  • Advanced knowledge of operating systems, server administration, scripting languages, virtualization technologies, and cloud technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex system administration problems independently.
  • Advanced project management skills and experience managing multiple large or complex projects.
  • Advanced analytical skills and strategic systems‑solutions thinking.
  • Ability to mentor or oversee the work of others.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for conveying technical knowledge and persuading stakeholders.
  • Background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily.
