Job Overview

Machining Tech V, Grinder – Aerospace manufacturing facility in Fullerton, CA.

This position sets up and operates multiple spindle automatic screw machines, managing machine settings and making minor adjustments as required.

• Independently set up automatic screw machines.
• Select, mount, and adjust cutting tools; regulate time cycles; set machine speeds, feeds, and stops.
• Select and position gears and cams according to screw machine layout.
• Work from orders, screw machine part prints, and layouts.
• Operate machines to perform turning, drilling, reaming, facing, tapping, threading, forming, and other operations.
• Set up machine to produce parts to close tolerances and intermittently check parts for specified dimensions.
• Recognize improper machine functioning or cutting action; troubleshoot and adjust accordingly.
• Ren, sharpen tooling using support equipment.
• Apply required knowledge of machinist skills, measuring tools, metals, alloys, cutting oils, and coolants.
• Perform SPC charting from predetermined dimensions.
• Assist in training machine operators.
• Lift and/or transport parts weighing up to 30 lbs.
• Maintain clean, safe, and orderly work area daily.
• Perform other tasks of equal or lesser skill as required.

• Minimum 3 years’ experience operating screw machine set‑up equipment.
• Ability to read and understand manufacturer drawings, catalogs, and instructions.
• Proficiency with quality tools (calipers, micrometers, comparators).
• Mechanical experience and basic math skills.
• Basic mechanical, reading, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Lift or move up to 30 lbs.
• Stand for long periods.

• 5+ years’ experience in screw machine operations.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education/training.
