About the PositionThe College of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) is committed to educating students to be culturally, globally, socially, historically, and environmentally astute civically responsible alumni. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Marketing Communications Strategist (Marketing Communications Professional III), characterized by positive attitude, energy, ethics, inclusivity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
The RoleThe Marketing and Communications Strategist serves as the college’s lead storyteller, content strategist, and communications liaison. Responsibilities include developing and implementing comprehensive marketing and communication plans that promote the college’s programs, people, and priorities across web, digital, and print platforms.
Other duties include researching, writing, and publishing feature stories, press releases, and news items; overseeing and maintaining the college website; collaborating with the Social Media Analyst and Media Production Specialist; developing creative materials to advance the college’s mission; ensuring alignment with CSU and CSUF brand standards, accessibility (ATI) compliance, and strategic goals; and performing additional assignments as required.
Essential Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of relevant experience (or equivalent experience).
- Advanced education may substitute for required experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing strategic marketing and communication plans, public‑relations campaigns, and media outreach.
- Advanced writing, editorial, and story‑development skills.
- Analytical, organizational, and project‑management skills; ability to work independently under general supervision.
- Knowledge of CSU and CSUF brand standards, accessibility (ATI) compliance, and legal/ethical guidelines.
- Experience in higher‑education or non‑profit communications is preferred.
- Experience in higher education or non‑profit communications.
- Photography and/or video production skills.
- Familiarity with CSU and CSUF branding and accessibility standards.
- Track record of developing strategic communication campaigns and measuring engagement outcomes.
Valid California driver’s license.
Special Working ConditionsMay be required to work occasional evenings or weekends for events and media coverage.
May lift up to 25 pounds of marketing materials or equipment.
