PART-TIME COMMUNITY SERVICES PROGRAM COORDINATOR

The City of Placentia is recruiting for the part‑time Community Services Program Coordinator. The position requires an average of 20–30 hours per week and the filing, or when 30 applications are received, whichever comes first.

Applicants will be interviewed tentatively on February 11, 2026. An eligibility list will be created from this recruitment to fill current and future vacancies citywide.

Job Overview

Under the direction of the Community Services Coordinator, the Community Services Program Coordinator coordinates and oversees the operations of designated recreation facilities and community centers; plans and organizes special events; develops, promotes, and evaluates recreation programs; supervises and schedules part‑time and seasonal staff; and performs related duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate recreation and leisure programs for all age groups.
  • Direct and oversee day‑to‑day operations of the community centers and recreation facilities.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with area schools and community groups.
  • Plan and organize special events; order supplies and equipment; coordinate facility usage.
  • Schedule, train, supervise, and evaluate staff and contractors; assist in recruiting, hiring, and conducting new employee orientation.
  • Coordinate a monthly calendar of activities and special events; design, write, and disseminate publicity materials.
  • Ensure facilities are correctly maintained; report repair or maintenance needs and safety incidents.
  • Provide effective communication with contract instructors for marketing, roster, issues, and payments.
  • Compile data for reports on program attendance, revenue, maintenance, incidents, and participation.
  • Assist in preparation of annual program and facility budgets; maintain financial records.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Prepare and present written and oral information to participants, officials, and community groups.
  • Serve as city representative to committees, commissions, and external groups.
  • Assess program and staff delivery daily; recommend improvements.
  • Act on behalf of the Community Services Coordinator when assigned.
Other Duties
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure effective functioning of the work unit and the City.
Required Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED, supplemented by college‑level coursework in recreation, business administration, public administration, or a related field, and two years of recreation and program planning experience.

Required Licenses, Certifications, and Testing

Valid, current driver's license.

  • First Aid certification and CPR certification required within one year of assignment.
