Join to apply for the School Office Assistant (Elementary) role at Missouri School for the Deaf (MSD).
Annual salary: $35,880 for an 11‑month position (paid 12‑month schedule with July off).
Work hours:
7:30 am – 4:00 pm, Monday – Friday.
- Maintains an organized filing system, clerical records and prepares reports.
- Proficiently navigates and enters data in the district’s student information system.
- Proficiently uses computer equipment and programs.
- Answers telephone calls and manages incoming correspondence.
- Acts as a receptionist for visitors in the respective building.
- Prepares orders for supplies and equipment.
- Acts as receiving clerk for all supplies and equipment in the building.
- Maintains attendance records for employees and/or students when necessary.
- Researches materials, products and other related items as required.
- Performs typing, computer input, dictation and transcription.
- Supervises, schedules and coordinates appointments, and directs routine office work.
- Provides routine information to the public independently.
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge of spelling, punctuation and other communication skills.
- Meets the required American Sign Language competency level of Intermediate.
- Executes bookkeeping procedures.
- Uses a variety of office equipment.
- Establishes and maintains effective and harmonious working relationships with students, staff and fellow employees.
- May be assigned responsibility for special projects or portions thereof.
- Performs related work as assigned.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
- Must be certified or willing to obtain and maintain CPR and CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training.
- Previous Office Assistant experience preferred.
