Job Title: Director of Advising and Student Success
Department: Academic Affairs
Reports To: Associate Provost
Job Type: This is a full time, exempt position.
General Description:The Director of Advising and Student Success is responsible for training, programming, and supervision of the Academic Advising staff.
WWU provides employees and their dependents with an opportunity to enroll in undergraduate, masters or doctoral coursework for credit at the university at a free or reduced cost. Employees interested in undergraduate degrees are eligible upon completion of three months of service. Masters or doctoral (including EDS) level degrees begins upon completion of six months of service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Oversee Academic Advising for both Traditional On-Ground students and Online students
- Oversee Academic Success initiatives and programming.
- Register or supervise the registration of incoming students each semester.
- Train and update advisors on policies, catalog changes, and general advising procedures.
- Create professional development for new and current advisors.
- Assign faculty advisors to students based on desired major.
- Maintain advisors and advisees in the university database.
- Complete annual assessment of academic advising.
- Refer students to appropriate university units, learning resources, and support services.
- Serve on student support and retention committees.
- Support the Admissions office through representation and various events.
- Maintain positive relationships between faculty advisors and the advising office.
- Act as a liaison between faculty and academic support offices, such as the Registrar.
