Position OverviewPerforms general police duties, including enforcement of federal, state laws, and municipal ordinances, and works on special police assignments as required.
Qualifications and Requirements Experience, Education, and Training- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must graduate from the Police Academy as a Police Recruit OR possess at least two (2) years of full-time sworn police experience within the last five (5) years, including responding to calls, investigations, traffic accidents, and arrests.
- Valid Vehicle Operator's License upon establishing Missouri residency.
- Type III license of operation and breathalyzer testing certification within probation.
- Certification as a peace officer through the Missouri Department of Public Safety.
- Pass state exam and meet P.O.S.T. requirements.
- Pass pre-employment drug test/physical and periodic drug testing.
- At least 21 years old, U.S. citizen, no felony convictions.
- Ability to work weekends, various shifts, and be subject to emergency call-in.
- Complete intensive law enforcement training.
- Memorize and recall information, follow instructions, analyze situations, and maintain professionalism in diverse scenarios.
- Effective communication, report writing, and use of police equipment.
- Work effectively with colleagues and the community, demonstrating integrity and professionalism.
- Respond to calls, monitor traffic, conduct investigations, and make arrests.
- Perform patrol duties, testify in court, and administer breathalyzer tests.
- Apply community policing techniques and perform self-initiated activities.
Normal mobility, agility, strength, balance, endurance, and mental focus are required to perform duties effectively.
