Job Description

The Associate Director, Head of Parasitology Lab ensures the provision of parasites and vectors for the reliable performance of GxP studies (GSP, GCP) in the development of veterinary medicines. The role involves independent planning and coordination of infectious material provision, screening of antiparasitic agents, and maintenance of parasite collections, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The incumbent will document strain repository and propagation history, lead parasite strain reproduction projects, and manage laboratory activities and staff.
Duties & Responsibilities- Manages the parasitology laboratory at the Fulton site, overseeing up to five employees.
- Ensures lab objectives are met, defines core competencies, and plans human resources.
- Coordinates with other departments (e.g., animal husbandry, GFE) and internal/external collaborators.
- Serves as contact person for parasite-related inquiries and EHS responsibilities.
- Ensures reliable and compliant conduct of studies for parasite propagation.
- Acts as study lead for parasite strain propagation studies.
- Document study and laboratory data and ensure proper handling of samples.
- Oversees laboratory equipment, commissions and supervises external service providers, and maintains equipment documentation.
- Collaborates globally to ensure parasites are available as required, managing transport logistics.
- Contributes to site governance, compliance, and project performance as a senior site member.
- PhD (or equivalent) or MS with >5 years of parasitology experience; alternatively, Bachelor’s degree with ≥8 years of related experience.
- Deep theoretical and practical knowledge of parasitology and parasite propagation.
- Independent, structured work methods and strong documentation skills.
- Creative, self‑taught, and constantly willing to further educate self and lab personnel.
- Accountability and ownership.
- Strong cross‑functional collaboration skills at the site and within the Clinical organization.

- English:
Read/Write/Speak – fluent.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
- Must be willing to take a drug test and post‑offer physical (if required).
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
