GENERAL

SUMMARY:

Ensures all trucks, trailers and yard tractors are in working order and are compliant to federal standards.

• Perform inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair on diesel engines, power trains, electrical, HVAC, steering, suspension, brakes, and aftermarket components on the fleet of Class A trucks, trailers, and yard tractors.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, cooling, and brake systems; dispose of hazardous fluids and parts.
• Perform routine, technical, and partial or full repairs; complete repair orders and maintain accurate work orders.
• Assist drivers with vehicle issues and lead DOT inspections and compliance.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and abide by company policies and safety rules.

• Broad understanding of fleet maintenance policies, FMCSA standards and industry practices.
• Ability to work unsupervised, make decisions as needed.
• Effective communicator and team player.
• Heavy diesel truck and trailer mechanic skills.

• 2+ years of Diesel Maintenance Repair experience.
• Experienced using trailer maintenance software preferred.
• Experience working with air brake, hydraulic and electrical systems.

• Conducts some repairs in odd positions and/or confined or close spaces.
• Work is performed under changing climatic conditions of extreme heat and cold.
• Walking long distances; sitting or standing for long periods of time.
• Bending, stooping, squatting, or kneeling on a repetitious basis.
• Fast-paced environment.
• Exposure to noise and heights.
