Berk‑Tek, a Leviton company, is looking for extrusion operators to join our fiber network cable manufacturing operations in Fuquay‑Varina, NC. Manufacturing experience preferred. An advanced training program upon entry – an average paid training program is 12‑15 weeks in length. Starting pay of $20.00 and up based on experience. Week‑day night‑shift differential – $1.25/hr.
Responsibilities- Safely sets‑up, takes apart, operates, and maintains cleanliness of assigned equipment.
- Understanding all shop floor documents necessary to operate the equipment and manufacture the product.
- Maintaining and completing all required documentation in the manufacturing of the product.
- Performing all required quality control checks and inspections on assigned product lines.
- Assisting in other areas of the cable manufacturing operations as needed.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend documents provided to operator machines printed in English.
- Basic math skills, required.
- Ability to operate a computer, required.
- Ability to communicate effectively with various employees throughout the facility.
- Ability to work in both a team environment and as an individual contributor.
- Week Days – Monday – Thursday 6:00 am – 4:00 pm
- Week Day Nights – Monday – Thursday 8:00 pm – 6:00 am
- High School Diploma or GED, required.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing facility or machine operator position, preferred.
- 20% clerical and planning and 80% material handling, production assembly machine operations, and/or walking and assisting production employees.
- Work performed on the manufacturing floor where noise levels may be moderate or high and hearing protection may have to be worn.
- Eye and foot protection may have to be worn.
- Potential for lifting weights up to 30 pounds regularly, with the occasional possibility of up to 45 pounds.
- Potential exposure to extreme temperatures.
- Physical demands include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and eye/hand/foot coordination.
- May stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
