Position Summary
The Accountant is responsible for performing general budget accounting and maintaining daily accounting procedures for Job Corps operations.
Responsibilities- Design spreadsheets for analyzing basic financial reports.
- Prepare necessary monthly journal entries.
- Work with the Accounting Clerk to process vendor invoices for timely payment.
- Process staff expense reports for reimbursement.
- Assist with processing and reconciling student payroll.
- Ensure proper timekeeping and payroll processing for center staff.
- Perform routine finance, banking, and procurement functions as directed by management.
- Assist in quarterly physical inventory counts.
- Perform monthly financial statement analysis.
- Ensure petty cash is reconciled properly.
- Provide information as requested to the corporate finance team.
- Prepare budget-to-actual reports for review by center and corporate financial management.
- Ensure no manipulation of student data.
- Correspond with vendors and other creditors regarding invoices.
- Accurately prepare month‑end accrual entries.
- Coordinate monthly accounting activity with the Director of Finance & Administration and corporate financial management.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial data.
- Perform thorough review of financial activity and statements.
- Ensure financial policies are followed and recommend changes to center procedures not outlined in corporate policy.
- Ensure proper internal controls in accounting are followed by all staff.
- Participate in department meetings and mandatory PRH and Strategix training.
- Maintain accountability of staff, students, and property and adhere to safety practices.
- Promote a harassment‑free environment.
- Utilize information systems and handle student data in strict adherence to Job Corps and Strategix policies to protect PII and reduce network security threats.
- Adhere to and model Strategix servant leadership culture values.
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration. Two years of relevant accounting experience. Knowledge of GAAP. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, conflict resolution, data analysis accuracy, math and organizational skills. Information technology proficiency including MS Office.
Preferred: Experience working with youth and/or government contracting.

Location and SalaryGadsden, AL | $45,000 – $60,000 per year.
