Job Overview

We are seeking a Student Radiologic Technologist (PRN), internally referred to as our Student Rad Tech at Riverview Regional Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare. As a Student Radiologic Technologist, you will learn and gain practical experience in all aspects of radiologic technology working independently of a technologist. This is an entry‑level position designed for students currently in a Radiology Technologist Program.

Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic radiographic or other procedures according to department protocols, working independently of a Radiologic Technologist.
  • Learn to perform a variety of radiographic examinations, including X‑rays and fluoroscopy.
  • Understand how to evaluate image quality, troubleshoot technical issues, and maintain equipment performance to meet established standards.
  • Gain knowledge of how to gauge if X‑ray equipment is functioning properly and that images meet quality standards, including performing equipment checks, calibrations, and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Interact with patients to explain procedures, address concerns, and ensure their comfort and safety during X‑ray examinations with assistance from a Rad Tech.
  • Maintain accurate records of X‑ray procedures, including patient information, images, and relevant medical history.
  • Participate in professional development activities, such as attending conferences, workshops, and seminars, to stay current with advancements in radiologic technology and healthcare practices.
  • Operate radiographic equipment to produce high‑quality images, learn proper techniques for radiation protection, shielding, and monitoring to ensure safe and effective imaging procedures.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Currently attending an accredited health care educational program for radiologic technology.
  • Meet state requirements for exemption from licensing to operate X‑ray equipment. Documentation of state exemption required.
  • Completion of first‑year curriculum requirements.
  • Current BCLS (AHA) certification.
  • At least one year of clinical experience in the radiology technologist program required.
  • Proficient computer skills.
