Food City / KVAT Foods Inc. invites applications for a student cashier position. This role involves providing efficient and courteous service to customers, operating the register, and supporting store operations.

• Provide efficient and courteous service to customers at all times, including directing them to checkout.
• NEVER sign off the register with a customer waiting; always await a relief.
• Scan and ring customer orders in accordance with company policy and store productivity standards.
• Ensure items are assigned to the correct department and fully removed from the cart.
• Receive and be accountable for all funds taken for each transaction.
• Assist the courtesy clerk in bagging groceries.
• Keep the work station and surrounding area neat and clean.
• Adhere to all state and local laws regarding beer and/or wine sales.
• Follow all federal laws concerning WIC handling.
• Follow all coupon handling procedures.
• Follow company check‑cashing and tendering procedures.
• Adhere to policies for Debit Card, Credit Card, Gift Card, EBT Cash, and EBT Food Stamp transactions.
• Use assigned tills in accordance with company policy.
• Complete weekly produce tests.
• Ensure that all non‑on‑file items are recorded and turned in daily.
• Obtain change using proper procedures.
• Use the intercom appropriately.
• NEVER engage in conversation with another associate while checking out orders.
• Understand and explain the Valu Card program to customers.
• Assist with light stocking duties (candy, cigarettes).
• Sweep the front end.
• Replace misplaced items in the proper location.
• Maintain cleanliness of bathrooms.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
