Locate Technician at Grid Hawk LLC

Locate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities, including telephone, electrical, cable, gas, fiber optic, water, and sewer lines. The role ensures compliance with client and state requirements, observing, locating, marking, and documenting utility locations. Technicians may work independently or as part of a team, always under a supervisor. The job requires focus, skill, and operation of machinery or tools.

• Locate underground facilities using a transmitter and connecting to buried structures, pedestals, etc.
• Work across varied terrains—including construction zones, residential, commercial, industrial, and rural areas—in all weather conditions.
• Interpret job order tickets, blueprints, and maps to efficiently route and perform duties.
• Perform locates and emergency/on‑call locates during regular, overtime, and holiday hours as needed.
• Complete all work in a timely, professional, and efficient manner while effectively communicating with customers, co‑employees, and third parties.
• Communicate with management, contractors, and utility customers to maintain a damage‑free environment.
• Maintain knowledge of necessary technology and tools.
• Collaborate with others and operate within a supervised team environment.

• High School Diploma or equivalency (GED)
• State‑issued driver's license
• Ability to problem‑solve
• Ability to read, interpret, and decipher multiple types of prints
• Vacuum truck experience (A+)
• Ability to lift over 50 lbs
• Ability to walk/stand for multiple hours a day
• Excellent communication skills
• Pass background screening (no violations within the last 5 years)
• Pass DOT drug test

Job Type: Full‑time

Schedule:

10‑hour shift, Monday to Friday; on‑call and weekends as needed
