Job DescriptionAssist in the installation and qualification of systems, troubleshoot day-to-day manufacturing issues, identify and implement system improvements that contribute to throughput, yield, and product performance goals. Support the operation of pilot-line equipment to define a new process, followed by a transition to startup, qualification, and implementation of the new production process with eventual evolution into a standard production MET position. Prior responsibilities will focus on material handling and JBT AGV operations throughout the facility.
Guide production associates to upskill MH equipment and process. Perform necessary maintenance and repair of equipment in a timely and cost‑efficient manner.
- Assist in installation and qualification of systems, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, and implement improvements for throughput, yield, and product performance.
- Support pilot‑line equipment operation, define new processes, and transition to startup, qualification, and implementation.
- Focus on material handling and JBT AGV operations throughout the facility.
- Guide production associates to upskill in MH equipment and process.
- Perform maintenance and repair of equipment in a timely and cost‑efficient manner.
- High School Diploma or equivalent with 1 year experience as First Solar Manufacturing Engineering Technician I, or 3 years First Solar Technical experience, or 10 years technical experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Associate’s degree in a technical discipline with at least 1 year experience as First Solar Manufacturing Engineering Technician I, or 2 years First Solar Technical experience, or at least 3 years technical experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with 0‑2 years technical experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Safety‑first mindset.
- Extensive verifiable electrical/electronic and mechanical knowledge.
- Hands‑on troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Competency in maintaining and repairing robotics, highly automated material‑handling systems, accumulation/storage systems, and auto‑guided vehicles (AGV).
- Self‑directed; able to work with minimal supervision.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve equipment and process issues on the manufacturing line.
- Administrative task handling.
- Working knowledge of Windows applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to identify recurring issues and develop/improve recommendations.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and good housekeeping standards.
- Solve day‑to‑day production, equipment, and process problems.
- Identify and implement yield and product performance improvements.
- Develop methods to assign causes to yield excursions.
- Ensure processes are running on target per the Process Control Plan.
- Respond to SPC process control alarms, bringing processes back into control.
- Execute planned process experiments, collect and analyze data, and report results.
- Collect data relating to daily tool performance and associated product performance.
- Provide training to production associates.
- Develop and update internal documentation including drawings, SOPs, safety documentation, and process specifications.
- Interface with internal associates and supplier representatives to complete assigned projects.
- Develop a complete understanding of area processes, equipment, and support systems.
- Maintain effective communication with production associates and manufacturing engineers.
- Disposition non‑conforming product according to established criteria (NCP).
- Ensure waste materials are discarded in designated containers.
- Ensure hazardous waste containers stay closed except when adding or removing waste.
- Ensure satellite accumulation containers stay in designated locations.
- Perform FAT (Final/Factory Acceptance Test) on MH equipment.
- Inventory management with JBT AGV operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
