PositionProject Engineer
LocationGahanna, OH, United States (Mankato, MN opening referenced in responsibilities)
Responsibilities- Conceptual, preliminary and final detailed design of new, upgraded and expanded substations, including material procurement, construction and commissioning/startup support through energization.
- Development and delivery of physical, electrical, civil and communication design studies, calculations, drawings, exhibits and specifications.
- Assist the Project Manager in planning and execution of projects, including client and stakeholder coordination, training and mentoring of design staff, project quality assurance, and oversight of design engineers, designers, drafters and support staff.
- Coordinate completion of specialized tasks with discipline groups such as Distribution Studies, Transmission Studies, Grounding Studies, Protection (relay coordination and settings), Civil Engineering, Communication (SCADA Integration), Transmission & Distribution Engineering, Environmental Planning, Surveying, Lands/Right-of-Way, and Project Management/Controls.
- Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 6+ years of project and design engineering experience, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organization and planning skills; ability to work in a team environment; commitment to quality and accuracy; and willingness to meet fast-paced project schedules.
- PE license is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of power engineering principals; strong familiarity with applicable codes, standards and design tools; basic project management execution skills; ability to oversee and direct design personnel on a project team.
- Experience in the utility or merchant power industry is a plus.
- Subject to client-mandated drug and background checks. Occasional travel/driving required; subject to ECI's auto insurance carrier requirements.
