Overview
  • Under general supervision, applies skills and knowledge to determine degree of conformance of materials, equipment and installation of materials and equipment to Wanzek or Client specifications
  • Performs inspection of various project activities; generates reports of conditions found during inspection activities;
    Notifies management of significant problems;
    Completes documentation to attest to satisfactory completion of inspection or test activities
Responsibilities
  • Promote and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures;
    Inspect and ensure the quality of work performed during the daily activities of the overall construction on large scale wind, solar, and industrial projects
  • Included but not limited to: roads, environmental (SWPPP), excavations, concrete, rebar, substations, transmission lines, solar racking and PV installation, underground utilities, wind turbine installation, steel erection, welding, piping, valves, pumps, compressors and a wide variety of other mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Demonstrates good organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Must plan and conduct daily activities in a highly organized manner to ensure all QC and QA data are properly and accurately recorded
  • On a daily basis monitor and record all work scope being executed and follow reporting criteria as determined by FQM and/or the client, as needed
  • Prevents deficiencies while working closely with field operating teams, through pre-construction quality control inspections
  • Detects deficiencies and addresses deficiencies in a timely and effective manner
  • Work closely with the field quality staff acting as their field representative ensuring construction understands and follows the QA/QC requirements
  • Interface with field supervision to maintain an open line of communication and reporting; monitor job progress, schedules and subcontractor performance
  • Maintain complete and accurate records during inspections so they can be transferred to permanent hard copy and/or electronic files
  • Inspect the work and establish punch lists
  • Capable of determining calibration status of measuring and test equipment
  • Ensures daily task schedules are met to meet the project schedule
  • Interacts cross-functionally with craft personnel and other team members
  • Maintain a professional appearance
  • Other Duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Associates degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Management or related field or High School Graduate or equivalent (GED) plus 1-3 years experience in related construction field
  • Inspection related certifications, such as NDE, preferred
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    REQUIRED:

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek's Zero Injury principles
  • Ability to independently perform work
  • The Quality Inspector must be a self-starter, be organized and have good interpersonal skills
  • Read, analyze and interpret blueprints and technical procedures
  • Write daily reports and document project activities
  • Effectively collect and record field data to assure activities are conforming to corporate Quality Control procedures
  • Ensures the effective implementation of the quality control program for assigned project task
  • Preferred:
    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as area, circumference and volume
  • Preferred:
    Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to solve problems individually and in a team setting
