Summary
This position involves physical labor at construction sites and supporting other workers. Employees may operate hand and power tools such as air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and other instruments. Tasks also include site preparation, trench digging, setting braces for excavations, erecting scaffolding, and cleaning up debris and waste.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate potential hazards.
- Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools and distribute them to appropriate locations.
- Control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones with proper training.
- Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials with proper training.
- Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes.
- May be required to enter trenches and/or confined spaces after receiving proper training.
- Understand and comply with safety considerations as outlined by the foreman/supervisor.
