Meteorologist/MSJ
A dynamic and engaging meteorologist/MSJ is needed to join our passionate team. The role covers news and weather on-air and online, preparing and delivering accurate weather reports in a conversational manner. The candidate will assist with all aspects of meteorology—forecasting, graphic preparation, field reporting—and contribute to severe weather coverage across TV, online, and social media. The position also seeks a multi‑skilled journalist who can write, shoot, and edit to produce memorable content on all platforms.
Required:
Current driver’s license and ability to operate news gathering vehicle.
- Provide accurate and compelling weather forecasts in a multi‑platform environment.
- Prepare and deliver severe weather updates, interrupting regular programming as necessary.
- Produce clean, creative, and informative graphics to tell the weather story.
- Fill in on other shifts when necessary.
- Write and report from the field or inside the newsroom for weather and news.
- Update website and interact with viewers on social media platforms daily.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Make public appearances.
- 2‑5 years on‑air weather experience, including reporting preferred.
- Proficiency at posting content to various websites and social media; computer literacy required, including weather and newsroom computer systems.
- Must possess solid news judgment, effective communication skills, creativity, and ethical decision‑making skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, meteorology, mass communication, or related field.
$31.25‑$36.08 USD per hour.
